This project will provide experimental estimates of the extensive margin labor supply elasticity and the elasticity of performance with respect to the wage.

The key outcomes for the recruiting portion of the experiment are: whether an individual becomes an active driver, hours worked, trips driven, weeks worked, etc.

The key outcomes for the performance incentives portion of the experiment are: hours worked, trips driven, weeks worked, average performance on trips.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
The experiment is designed to estimate the extensive margin labor supply elasticity. To estimate the extensive margin elasticity, we first select a sample of potential drivers. We then contact these potential drivers and offer them different starting wages if they choose to drive. We use participation decisions to measure the extensive margin elasticity.

A second arm of experiments estimates the elasticity of driver performance with respect to the wage. We randomly assign drivers to different sets of performance incentives and measure the response.
