Abstract
For immigrants learning the language of the host country can facilitate both integration and economic success. While in-class courses are considered first best, the potential of online language learning remains unexplored. We will conduct a field experiment for estimating the impact of a German language-learning platform on different dimensions of refugee integration. We will exogenously increase the salience of this study opportunity for a randomly selected group of recently migrated job-searchers.

Experimental Design
Emails will be sent to a randomly selected participants.
Experimental Design Details
Randomization Method
We stratified using pre-intervention data (days since registration on the platform). Randomization was done in office by a computer.
Randomization Unit
individual
Was the treatment clustered?
No

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
9519
Sample size: planned number of observations
9519
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
3803 control, 5716 treatment
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
Given our number of observations (9519) and alpha =0.05, our chance of detecting an effect of 0.05 of a standard deviation is 68%. Our chance of detecting an effect of 0.1 of a standard deviation is 99%.
