Abstract
In this paper, we shed light on the causal effects of policy announcements in terms of information on planned transport policy measures that render driving less attractive. We expect that providing information on changing transportation policies (making driving less attractive or more expensive) will trigger a (hypothetical) behavioral change in mode choice toward less motorized individual transportation options.
Furthermore, we examine whether the effects of the policy announcements depend on trust in political institutions and (governing) parties.

Interventions

Intervention(s)
To capture the extent to which policy announcements affect the willingness to change to a sustainable mode of transport, all participants will be randomly assigned to three treatment groups and one control group. The treatment groups receive information on planned transport policy measures.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
To capture the extent to which policy announcements affect the willingness to change to a sustainable mode of transport, all participants will be randomly assigned to three treatment groups and one control group. The treatment groups receive information on planned transport policy measures.
Treatment 1: The following information may be helpful for your decision: The German government considers introducing a car toll on all roads.
Treatment 2: The following information may be helpful for your decision: The German government considers the implementation of general speed limits.
The control group will receive no information.
