Experimental Design

Experimental Design
Participants will be assigned to either a treatment group, which sees a clip from a reality show about police, or a placebo group, which sees a clip from a reality show about an unrelated profession.
Experimental Design Details
Participants will be assigned to either a treatment group, which sees a clip from a reality show about police, or a placebo group, which sees a clip from a reality show about an unrelated profession. The set of clips is randomly assigned within each arm. For example, a random subset of 10 clips from a reality show about police was chosen, and another random subset of 10 clips from other reality shows on the same channel in the same time period from YouTube. This also allows me to test whether the content of the clips themselves is important.
Randomization Method
randomization done by Qualtrics (random number assignment by computer)
Randomization Unit
individual
Was the treatment clustered?
No
