Abstract
This project aims at investigating the long-term effects of the government project PACE (Programa de Acompañamiento y Acceso Efectivo a La Educación Superior). PACE is a preferential admission program that was first implemented in Chile in 2014, and is targeted at children in disadvantaged schools. This research project investigates the long-term effect of PACE on graduation from higher education and labor market outcomes. At the time of registration, the research team does not have access to the long-term outcome data.

Randomization Method
randomization done in office by a computer
Randomization Unit

Was the treatment clustered?
Yes

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
218 schools
Sample size: planned number of observations
Around 15,000 pupils
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
64 treated schools and 154 control schools
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
We predict that we will be able to detect effects of about 0.13 SD in terms of standard deviation of the outcome variable with a significance of 5%.
