Abstract
This document outlines our pre-analysis plan for a matching intervention in Jordan. In this intervention, we connect treated job-seekers to suitable vacancies in the manufacturing sector. We worked in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Over the course of
nine months (from February 2019 until November 2019), we simultaneously collected information about job-seekers and job openings. We reached job-seekers through a combination of passive and active methods, aiming to include a similar number of Syrian refugees and Jordanian job-seekers. The programme was open to individuals who were aged between 18 and 45 years (inclusive), and who were willing to take up low-skilled wage work in the immediate future. We provided a matching intervention to prospective employer firms; in this study, we estimate the consequences of that intervention.

Interventions

Intervention(s)
In this pre-analysis plan, we consider two interventions to assist job-seekers: (i) cash grants and (ii) direct matching of job-seekers to prospective employers. We discuss this in detail in the pre-analysis plan document.
Intervention (Hidden)
See pre-analysis plan document.

Primary Outcomes

Primary Outcomes (end points)
These are discussed in detail in the pre-analysis plan. They are: (i) whether there was a successful match, (ii) whether the respondent had a wage-paying job at follow-up, (iii) earnings, (iv) household expenditure and (v) wellbeing and (vi) social intergration.
Primary Outcomes (explanation)
This is discussed in detail in the pre-analysis plan.

Secondary Outcomes

Secondary Outcomes (end points)
Our secondary outcomes include: (i) outcomes of migration and (ii) outcomes on the quality of the job match. We have additional intended outcomes on savings, job satisfaction, job retention and sector retention, business expenditure, self-employment, and self-employment satisfaction.
Secondary Outcomes (explanation)
This is discussed in detail in the pre-analysis plan.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
We are using a randomised controlled trial design, in which respondents are placed either into a control group or receive cash, or receive matching, or receive cash and matching. This process is described in more detail in the pre-analysis plan document.
Experimental Design Details
See pre-analysis plan document.
Randomization Method
Done by a computer, in the presence of the respondent.
