Preference between the three types of incentives
Scores in the final exam

Secondary Outcomes

Secondary Outcomes (end points)
Self-reported rationale for preference between the three types incentives

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
This project recruits students to participate in a data analysis short course and take an exam at the end. We present three types of incentives to students and elicit their preferences over the three types of incentives.

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
200 individuals or the number of registered participants as of 12/10/2023, whichever is lower
Sample size: planned number of observations
200 individuals or the number of registered participants as of 12/10/2023, whichever is lower
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
The three incentive schemes are uniformly randomly assigned to 90% of participants. The remaining participants are assigned an incentive scheme using a Becker-DeGroot-Marschak mechanism. For participants who are randomly assigned a flat incentive scheme, 1/3 receive a $1 flat pay and 2/3 receive a $6 flat pay.
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
