Experimental Design

Experimental Design
Please see the attached PDF for a full exposition of the experimental design along with an analysis plan.
Experimental Design Details
The main idea of the experiment is to randomly provide different individuals with different information about policy levels. Please see the attached PDF for details.
Randomization Method
In Qualtrics
Randomization Unit
Individual level
Was the treatment clustered?
No

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
N/A
Sample size: planned number of observations
5000 individuals
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
As explained in the attached PDF, roughly half of the 5000 participants will be allocated to the main experiment. The remaining participants will be split between the qualitative treatment and control group in roughly equal numbers. Within the main experiment, around 1,250 participants will be allocated to each treatment arm.
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
See attached PDF.
