Experimental Design

Experimental Design
We will survey 1000-1500 low-income adults in a peri-urban region northwest of Bangalore, Karnataka. In 2017, 24 percent of local adults aged 18 to 50 had some depression symptoms and 10 percent had symptoms of at least moderate depression.

The causal analysis consists of estimating the effect of priming people to think about their mental health on anhedonia and investment. To do that, we randomize the order of (i) answering the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 (which primes people to think about their own mental health) and (ii) experiencing sensory activities and sorting lentils.
