Intervention (Public) An insurance-based disaster relief mechanism integrated into the national social protection system. A parametric insurance-based disaster relief mechanism integrated into the national social protection system, with some treatment subjects also exposed to more intensive information about the insurance intervention.

Experimental Design (Public) We randomize access to the insurance-based disaster relief mechanism at level of a local geographic unit (village or neighborhood). We randomize access to the insurance-based disaster relief mechanism at level of a local geographic unit (village or neighborhood), with some treatment subjects also exposed to more intensive information about the insurance intervention.
Randomization Unit Local geographic unit (village or neighborhood). Main randomization: Local geographic unit (village or neighborhood); within-cluster information randomization: individual (within treatment cluster).
Planned Number of Clusters The exact number of villages / neighborhoods is TBD. We plan for 200 locations (i.e., clusters); villages or neighborhoods.
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms The exact number of villages/neighborhoods is TBD. 50/50 (100 treatment, 100 control), with treatment arms 50/50 cross-randomized within-cluster with an information intervention.
