Before
The treatment group has received community and household-level promotion. Dur-
ing household-level promotion, trained mobilizers visited households in the catchment
area of the treatment vaccination sites, recorded data of the residents, elicited reasons
for not being vaccinated, and delivered a pitch tailored to address their stated causes for
hesitancy. The mobilizers also recorded vaccination preferences. In addition, the resi-
dents were informed of the address and timings of the nearest vaccination site. Social
mobilizers visit households in groups. The activity initiation area for the social mobilizers
was also randomized using concentric circles around the vaccination site. Mobilizers were
allocated either within 1 km of the vaccination site, or within 1-2 km of the vaccination
site, or within 2-3 km of the vaccination site.
This social mobilization drive was also accompanied by community promotion. Community promotion in treatment areas involves announcements from mosques, trucks, rickshaws, and community centers, as well as online and offline marketing campaigns. Local community leaders such as district administration and religious leaders were enlisted to encourage people to get vaccinated
