Abstract
Previous studies have empirically examined preferences for foreign workers. A concern for accepting immigrants is that it may
increase welfare expenditures; that is, immigrants could be a burden for the welfare states. This may change what types of immigrants are preferred by citizens. The objective of this study is to test this hypothesis rigorously by conducting a conjoint survey experiment in Japan.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
We randomly assign the treatment followed by a conjoint experiments.
Experimental Design Details
After several socio-demographic questions are asked, respondents are randomly assigned to one of the following two groups: the treatment group who receives information of welfare burden of low-income immigrants and the control group who does not receive such information. This is followed by a conjoint experiment, which estimates preferences over types of immigrants.
Randomization Method
Randomization done in office by a computer
