Abstract
The study uses a cluster-randomized controlled trial to investigate the impact of community-based life skills training delivered in safe spaces for adolescent girls on sexual and reproductive health and empowerment outcomes. The effect of safe spaces for girls is compared to the joint provision of said safe spaces with clubs to engage boys and men in the community.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
Clusters of villages were formed based on village geographical and linguistic distance. 300 clusters of villages were randomly assigned to a control group and two treatment groups. In the control group (T1), the 100 selected clusters receive no safe space or club intervention. The 100 clusters assigned to the first treatment group (T2) benefit solely from safe spaces for girls. The 100 clusters assigned to the second treatment group (T3) benefit from both safe spaces for girls and clubs for adolescent boys and young men.

Sample size: planned number of observations
6000 adolescent girls, 6000 head of households, 2000 adolescent boys or young men.
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
100 clusters of villages in the control group, 100 clusters of villages allocated to the safe space for girls' arm, and 100 clusters of villages allocated to the safe space for girls' + boys' and future husbands' club arm.
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
