Interventions

Intervention(s)
The intervention, part of an experiment designed to measure social capital, evaluates individual decisions through three economic games conducted in pairs (Dictator Game, Trust Game, Prisoner's dilemma).
Each participant interacts with five different people from a particular group. In the PD game, there is a random assignment into one of three tratments: recommendation (the participant can suggest a decision to the other player), leader (the participant is chosen to be a "leader"), recommendation+leader (the participant is chosen to be a "leader" and can suggest a decision to the other player).

Primary Outcomes

Primary Outcomes (end points)
cooperation in the PD, trust and trustworthiness in the trust game, generosity in the dictator game.
Primary Outcomes (explanation)

Secondary Outcomes

Secondary Outcomes (end points)
incentivized empirical expectation for each game.

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
6 regions
Sample size: planned number of observations
891 individuals from 6 regions in Colombia
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
295 individuals per treatment.
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
The Minimum Detectable Effect Size (MDES) for this study with 891 participants allocated into three groups of 295 each, a 5% type I error rate, and 80% power, is approximately 0.23 standard deviations.
