Abstract
This study evaluates economic inclusion interventions for people with disabilities in Haiti's Grand Anse region. People with disabilities face significant barriers to economic participation including inability to meet basic needs, limited accessibility, lack of capital, inadequate business knowledge, and challenges related to self-esteem and social stigma. Through a randomized controlled trial with ~1000 participants who have mobility, sight, hearing, or speaking disabilities, we will compare three approaches:

A full package: periodic cash transfers, coaching, skills training, and a capital grant
A capital package: periodic cash transfers, a planning day, and a capital grant
A basic package: periodic cash transfers only

All participants will be registered individuals with disabilities from vulnerable households who are capable of working.

Interventions

Intervention(s)
This program provides disability-inclusive economic support to adults with physical and sensory disabilities in Haiti's Grand Anse region. The intervention includes:
- Monthly Cash Transfers: Participants receive ~$35 USD monthly via mobile money for a period of 15 months to help meet basic needs and cover transportation costs.
- Capital Grant: A one-time ~$500 USD productive grant delivered via mobile money that participants can use for business investments or assistive devices.
- Capital Grant Planning: A one-day session to help participants plan effective use of their capital grant, including guidance on where to purchase assistive devices or productive assets.
-Coaching Support: Individual coaches meet with participants regularly to provide personalized guidance and reinforce training concepts.
Skills Training: several days of group training covering business skills (based on the GERME model), opportunity identification, and psychosocial elements addressing self-esteem and overcoming self-stigma.

All components are designed with accessibility accommodations for mobility, sight, hearing, and speaking impairments. The intervention is implemented by the Office of the Secretary of State for Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH) and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MAST), with support from a local NGO partner.
