Abstract
We send fictitious applications to companies advertising jobs for secretary-receptionist and accountant positions.
Some applications include a video CV of a well spoken candidate. Some applications reveal a visible disability (either in the video CV or in the cover letter). Visible disabilities are either a motor disability (wheelchair) or a hearing disability (hearing aid), or both.
Some applications also include a fictitious letter of recommendation from a former employer.
Our applicant is young (22-23) and poorly qualified (short vocational training).
We collect call-back rates by e-mail and telephone.
We also analyze the recruiters's video CV viewing activity (do they click on the video, do they watch to the end or do they stop).
We're aiming to send out between 2,000 and 3,000 applications in the Ile de France and Lyon areas during the 2025 year.

Primary Outcomes

Primary Outcomes (end points)
We want to know if applications revealing a disability receive less call back rates (discrimination), and if it does depend on the handicap (motor or hearing) and the cumul of several handicaps. We want to know if the presence of a video resume helps ? And to know if the presence of a recommandation letter help ? Is it better if the recommandation letter comes from a man or a woman ? Is discrimination higher in jobs where there is public contact (secretary-receptionist) or less public contact (accountant) ?

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
The experimental design is a testing. We send more than 2000 fictitious applications that are similar except for the presence of a disability, a video resume and a recommandation letter.

Randomization Method
randomization done in office by a computer.
Randomization Unit
The unit is the candidate profile.

Was the treatment clustered?
No

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
For each occupation, we have 33 different treatments.

27 for application with disability.
- 3 disability status (motor, hearing, motor + hearing)
- 3 ways to reveal disability when there is one (cover letter, video resume, Mention of the Disability Aid Eligibility (RQTH) on Resume)
- 3 recommandation letter type (none, male, female)

6 for application without disability.
- 2 Video resumes status (yes or no)
- 3 recommandation letter type (none, male, female)
Sample size: planned number of observations
We expect between 1000 and 1500 applications by occupation.
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
We would have between 30 and 50 application by treatment arm.
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
