Abstract
We investigate the effects of a digital mental arithmetic intervention on arithmetic achievement. We recruit 43 schools with in total 67 classrooms for a randomized controlled trial (RCT). The randomization unit is the classroom. The trial is conducted in the 2025-2026 academic year starting mid-October 2025.

67 classrooms
Sample size: planned number of observations
23 pupils per classroom multiplied by 67 classrooms
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
34 classrooms treatment, 33 classrooms control
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
