Abstract
We conducted the main survey on a subset of panel participants in July 2023 and a follow-up wave in November 2023, collecting detailed information on their demographics, balance sheets, and beliefs about macroeconomic and fiscal variable. We introduced randomized information treatments into the first wave: While the control group (Group 1) received no information, other groups received: (1) information about the current government debt (Group 2); (2) information about the current fiscal deficit (Group 3); and (3) information about the current fiscal deficit along with planned government policy measures to address it. The latter treatment is further divided based on the type of planned government response: (a) without specifying a policy instrument (Group 4); (b) reducing discretionary government expenditure, such as cash transfers and vouchers, (Group 5); and (c) increasing taxes (Group 6).

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
We followed the standard Information RCT procedure.During the survey, we gave differential information on the survey participants to study how information on the fiscal state of the Korean economy affects peoples' beliefs on fiscal state and macro variables.
Experimental Design Details
Randomization Method
Randomization by the survey firm (Embrain, survey firm in Korea)
Randomization Unit
Individual (each individual was divided into groups)
Was the treatment clustered?
No
