Intervention (Public) We provide the following interventions: (i) expert advice on electricity conservation, (ii) information about (average) electricity consumption of others in the city, and (iii) information about own electricity consumption relative to comparable neighbors' electricity consumption; and (iv) no intervention - control group. We provide the following interventions: (i) expert advice on electricity conservation (Information/Knowledge treatment), (ii) information about (average) electricity consumption of others in the city (City/Suburb treatment) , and (iii) information about own electricity consumption relative to comparable neighbors' electricity consumption (Neighbor treatment); and (iv) no intervention - control group.
Intervention (Hidden) Results from the First three phases of interventions in 2017 show that information/knowledge treatment is the most effective treatment in household energy conservation. In order to check the true efficacy of the Information treatment, we provided the Information/Knowledge treatment to randomly selected half (approximately 600 households) of both Suburb and Neighbor treatment groups in April-May 2018. Randomly selected half (approximately 600 households) of initial Control and Information/Knowledge treatment groups served as the control in our follow-up intervention. Almost an equal number of households (approximately 300) was selected from each initial treatment wing. In the follow-up phase in April-May 2018, we provided the information treatment and collected the households' electricity use information. We conducted a final follow up survey in August 2018 to collect electricity use information of all (approximately 1200 households) households' electricity use information for May-June and June-July 2018.
