Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
In the Fall 2017 semester, we will make use of 10 classes at Occidental College.
Sample size: planned number of observations
In the Fall 2017 semester, we will have roughly 100-125 students in the control group and 100-125 in the experimental.
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
5 classes in the control; 5 in the experimental
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
This is primarily intended as a pilot so that we can conduct a power analysis for our main study in 2018-2019.
