Experimental Design Details
We conduct a natural field experiment in the student dormitories at the University of Arizona. Our identification strategy relies on the quasi-random allocation of first-year students to a roommate for the duration of the academic year. Pairings of students from two high-income families, as well as from high- and low-income families exogenously arise. (See Analysis Plan)
Randomization Method

Was the treatment clustered?
No

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
See Analysis Plan.
Sample size: planned number of observations
Approximately 264. (See Analysis Plan)
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
Approximately 132. (See Analysis Plan)
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
See Analysis Plan.
