Data collection began in roughly Jan 2020. We ran about 80 subjects when the global pandemic temporarily shut down our data collection from March of 2020 to Aug 2021. In Sep 2021 we resumed running experiments but our subject pool was depleted. At great cost of time and money we conducted a massive recruitment effort. By Dec 2021 we had approximately N=300. We have not analyzed the data.
Our new target N is 400 as 500 is no longer feasible. Even as I write this the omicron wave is surging and has caused the Claremont Colleges, where we are running the experiment, to go entirely online for the first 2 weeks of the semester. We will try to collect N=400 after we return to campus in Feb 2022, but if future access to campus or to the subject pool yields less than 20 subjects per week we judge that the administrative burden and cost of time to be too high and we will end data collection with the sample that we have at that time.
