Abstract
we conduct a field experiment to study whether people are affected by projection bias when making decisions about charitable donations. We find that respondents’ willingness to give for environmental charities is affected by daily air pollution level. We try to test the importance of projection bias in understanding the altruistic behavior.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
1. The subjects will received one of the questionairs, the questionair ask some demographic informaiton, such as age, gender, college major etc. And they also need to do a standard risk preference test which is used to evaluate their risk preference.
2. Then they will receive 10 RMB, they can choose to keep 10 RMB or donate to charity. There are two type of charity: one will handing out free surgical masks to poor children, the other one will provide the free lunch for poor children.
