Intervention (Hidden) This study consists of a survey experiment. In this experiment, we will randomly vary the respondent to a household questionnaire in a sample of about 3000 households in 200 villages in rural Uganda. To acquire information on aggregate income, we developed a survey module in which we ask the respondent to report on the different sources of income for every household member during the past 4 weeks. The experiment is designed as a stratified clustered-RCT where villages are allocated to one of the following treatment arms. Randomization will be stratified at the subcounty level. Treatment 1 (T1): Separate survey – one spouse The income section is administered to one household member only (the person applying for a loan). Treatment 2 (T2): Separate survey – both spouses The same income questions are administered to two household members but separate from each other. One household member is the loan applicant, the second household member is his/her partner or other main household member. Treatment 3 (T3): Joint survey – both spouses The income questions is administered to both members together. This study consists of a survey experiment.
