Experimental Design

Experimental Design
Volunteers complete a survey on college major choice and receive information on salary, job flexibility and climate and inclusion.
Experimental Design Details
Undergraduate students (i.e. freshman, sophomores) are sent an invitation to complete a study on college major choice. Volunteers complete an online survey in which they are asked their beliefs about completing their college degrees in various majors, about salary compensation, job flexibility and climate and inclusion. After stating their beliefs, they receive information on salary, job flexibility and/or climate and inclusion. Treatments vary which information, or combination of information, is shown to participants. Participants are asked their beliefs again. The survey includes questions on family background and demographics. Participants are asked whether the researchers can verify their final major choice and they would participate in a follow-up survey after graduation.
