Abstract
The purpose of this study is to test if we can increase female applications to a male-dominated job (warehouse worker) through changes in the job advertisement. We collaborate with a large Swedish food retail firm and the staffing provider hired by the firm to advertise vacant positions. We create two versions of the job advertisement and randomly assign applicants to see one of the two versions.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
The purpose of this study is to test if we can increase female applications to a male-dominated job (warehouse worker) through changes in the job advertisement. We collaborate with a large Swedish food retail firm and the staffing provider hired by the firm to advertise vacant positions. The firm is regularly hiring part-time warehouse workers for their warehouse located in Stockholm. Using their most recent advertisement for this job as a starting point, we create two versions of the job ad:
-Baseline: The original version of the job ad that has previously been used by the firm.
-Treatment: A modified version of the job ad that is designed to increase the number of female applicants.
Individuals who enter the staffing provider’s website and click on the job title are randomly assigned to see either the Baseline version or the Treatment version.

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
All individuals who apply for the position (the company expects at least 400 applicants).
Sample size: planned number of observations
All individuals who apply for the position (the company expects at least 400 applicants).
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
All individuals who apply for each of the two positions (the company expects at least 200 applicants per position).
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
