Experimental Design

Experimental Design
We plan to test how ambient air temperatures affect various measures of human behavior.
Experimental Design Details
Randomization Method
Randomization will be done using a computer.
Randomization Unit
Treatment will be randomized at the session level.
Was the treatment clustered?
No

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
We plan on conducting sessions with 8-10 participants at a time, meaning we should have approximately 150-175 sessions with four sites (additional sites may be added later).
Sample size: planned number of observations
Roughly 1400 assuming four sites, but we may add more sites.
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
Treatment is continuous (temperature) and we plan on varying it between 18 and 24 degrees.
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
See attached pre-analysis plan.
