Abstract
The aim of this project is to provide the first real-world, large-scale randomised controlled trial (RCT) on affirmative action (AA) for access to university. We use the RCT to evaluate policy effectiveness without the confounding factors that potentially affect existing observational studies. Moreover, we explore the drivers of programme effectiveness.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
This study makes use of the expansion phase of the PACE program which started in 2016, when 64 schools - chosen at random among a pool of eligible schools entered the programme. These schools constitute our Treatment Group (T). The remaining eligible schools will remain untreated (due to budget constraints) and constitute our Control Group (C).
Experimental Design Details
Randomization Method
Randomization done in office by a computer. The randomisation was performed by PNUD - Chile (United Nations Development Programme).

Was the treatment clustered?
Yes
