Primary Outcomes

Primary Outcomes (end points)
This entry applies to the pilot stage of the experiment only.

The outcomes of interest are:

Responds to the SMS to indicate interest in applying;
Decides to apply for job when asked during initial screening call;
Attends the interview (conditional on interview offer);
Accepts the job (conditional on job offer);
Takes up the transport service.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
In this study, some areas are randomly assigned to receive a mixed-gender pick-and-drop transport service, others receive women's-only transport services, and a control group receives no new transport service.
Experimental Design Details
Randomization Method
Randomization done in Stata
Randomization Unit
In the pilot stage, we randomly assigned enumeration blocks to transport services, and individuals to different price levels for the transport.
Was the treatment clustered?
Yes

Experiment Characteristics

Sample size: planned number of clusters
60 clusters in pilot study
Sample size: planned number of observations
Unit of observation = individual job matching service subscriber Number of individual subscribers in pilot will be determined based on the results of signup calls (described in detailed analysis plan)
Sample size (or number of clusters) by treatment arms
20 EBs - Women's transport
22 EBs - Mixed transport EB
18 EBs - Control EB
Number of individual subscribers in pilot will be determined based on the results of signup calls (described in detailed analysis plan)
Minimum detectable effect size for main outcomes (accounting for sample design and clustering)
