Abstract
This study aims to increase retention and job satisfaction of female workers (kindergarten teachers) in Karnataka, India, by engaging the family members who influence their employment decisions. The interventions involve (a) showing videos with testimonials about how working has raised women's self-esteem and has not caused social stigma or compromised personal safety and (b) spurring discussions between the teacher and her family members about the pros and cons of her working.

Personal growth video: Short video with testimonials by current teachers and family members on how working generates personal growth

Personal growth video + safety video: Short video with testimonials by current teachers and family members on how working has not led to social stigma or compromised the teacher's personal safety.

Conversation: Prompting teacher and family members to have a conversation about the pros and cons of working by asking them a series of questions.

Experimental Design

Experimental Design
The sample comprises Hippocampus Learning Centre schools where there is at least 1 teacher who joined at the beginning of the 2016-7 school year or later ("new teachers"). All new teachers in sample schools are eligible for the study and will be offered the following interventions based on the treatment (or control) arm that their school is randomly assigned to.There are 6 arms. 2 of the arms are split into subarms.

Arm A/B/C: "Control group". Split into 3 subarms where teacher shown (i) no video, (ii) personal growth video, or (iii) personal growth + safety videos. (Thus, A is a "pure control" arm.)
Arm D: Teacher and family shown personal growth video
Arm E: Teacher and family shown personal growth + safety videos
Arm F/G/H: Like Arm A/B/C but also including conversation prompt
Arm I: Like Arm D but also including conversation prompt
Arm J: Like Arm E but also including conversation prompt
